Knightly. Curious. Playful. Passionate. Heartfelt. Honest. Intense.
Self-sacrificing. Skeptical. Anxious. Self-isolating when in any type of pain. Her passion often leads to impulsivity. She faces obstacles head-on, reacting emotionally first, logically second. Her greatest weakness is herself, her own mind.G E N E R A L
She delights in being able to call Ishgard her home. It is the place Ulyana always returns to after a long mission away as the Warrior of Light, seeking refuge in Ishgard's unrelentingly cold, dark, and unforgiving landscape.
Her downtime in Ishgard is generally spent with her mother and father, or bothering her best friend, Aymeric de Borel, until he agrees to a sparring match or two. Or three.Spare time away from home is spent with the other Scions, particularly Estinien, Krile, or G'raha (her romantic partner).Ulyana enjoys dark, brooding novels, including gothic horror and folktales. She has quite the coffee and chocolate habit, and loves having a good laugh.

history

F A M I L Y
Ulyana hails from a family of reapers dating back approximately three hundred years go in the Northern territories of Ilsabard. Her great grandparents, grandmother and father were all born, raised, and trained on Lapis Manalis serve as assassins for the Garlean Empire.
Her father was part of the historical insurrection against Solus zos Galvus, which lead to the dissolution of reapers as a Garlean military unit. Her mother was a peregrinus, by all accounts a slave to the Empire forced to serve in its military. This understandably hardened her, leaving her emotionally distant. She missed her home of southern Ilsabard. The only one who could ever lift her spirits was Ulyana's father with his playful personality (and his mind to overthrow their oppressors). Her parents settled in Ishgard's low-income neighborhood, The Brume, to escape Garlean persecution for their crimes against the previous emperor. Ishgard is still the city-state Ulyana calls home to this day.C H I L D H O O D
One might expect the Warrior of Light to have always been a prodigy. Ulyana certainly was not. She found speaking in early life to be particularly difficult, having to overcome her selective mutism. To this day there are times Ulyana finds herself speechless, though the severity and frequency has lessened substantially throughout the years.
She also had issues learning to read and write, which she was not able to do fluently until age twelve. This was not only due to her struggle with communicating and understanding language early in life, but also because the Ishgardian school system is entirely privatized. Her family could not afford to pay for her schooling in her earliest years, but her parents did their best teaching her at home.Aside from these troubles, she grew up with supportive parents who loved her, and love each other. Her father began training Ulyana with wooden scythes crafted to accommodate her tiny physique by age seven. It was also around this time she met Aymeric, drawn to him due to overhearing the young boy practicing his swordplay. Ulyana wished to join him, and they were inseparable since.T E E N H O O D
Ulyana spent her teenage years rambunctiously, often picking fights with any haughty noble child who had anything to say about her. But what really lit her fuse was if Aymeric's lineage was ever called into question.
She and Aymeric began to date in their late teens. She was head over heels in love with him, perhaps too much so. This lead to some contention, as Aymeric wished to join the Knighthood when he came of age - and he did, which meant he had to leave Ulyana behind. She was positively heartbroken. And due to this heartbreak she trained harder than ever, channeling all of her sadness and rage into perfecting her scythe-wielding abilities.A D U L T H O O D
Ulyana assists her father with various adventuring tasks such as ridding villages of angry, wandering souls, and ridding individuals of hauntings and curses. At this point Ulyana did not have a reaper avatar, so she would provide the man power while her father handled the darker spiritual aspects.

G' R A H AA Realm RebornUlyana and G'raha clashed that first day at the base of the Crystal Tower. She was unimpressed with his playful antics and shrugging off his duties onto her, considering G'raha immature for someone of such supposed high academic standing. It isn't long before she realizes his overly confident air is all feigned, a feeble attempt to hide up the emotional unrest in his heart. At Cid's insistence (and after G'raha being defeated repeatedly by him), G'raha and Ulyana play Triple Triad against each other that first night after Labyrinth of the Ancients, both of them insisting that their game will be 'the best two out of three', then 'the best three out of five'... and they continue this way until the first inklings of daylight appear on Mor Dhona's horizon. They learn enough about each other that night for Ulyana to cut him some slack and form a deeper understanding. She evens open up to him a bit herself in the coming days.By the third day, they both appear to be quite smitten with each other. Their newfound connection is shadowed by the fact that G'raha will have to seal himself inside of the Crystal Tower - for how long, neither of them know.Ulyana is the first to put the pieces together enough to know what G'raha is planning. She approaches him privately, already seeing his fate in motion. G'raha has only one request, that she not forget about him. Ulyana promises to visit the Crystal Tower every chance she gets, asking that whenever he wakes he will come find her.But we all know that doesn't happen. The Warrior of Light perishes in the Eighth Umbral Calamity, long before G'raha is roused from his slumber 200 years later.ShadowbringersComing soon!EndwalkerComing soon!DawntrailComing soon!
